CAT 50 Forex Trading Strategy for EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/CHF

Daniel Parker

CAT 50 is an indicator-based trading strategy designed for the EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/CHF currency pairs on the M30 (30-minute) timeframe.

Indicators Required for the CAT 50 Strategy

The following technical indicators are required:

  • EMA (Exponential Moving Average) with period 50, applied to Close prices.
  • Hist_Step_MA_Stoch with NumberOfBarsToCalculate = 2000, plus horizontal levels at +0.04 and −0.04.
  • aNina_v1 indicator.
  • MAX Moving Average — a supplementary indicator that displays directional signals using colored circles.

Hist_Step_MA_Stoch is the primary signal generator in the CAT 50 system. Its histogram and color changes provide the main entry triggers.

For higher reliability, trade entries should only be taken when both Hist_Step_MA_Stoch and aNina_v1 generate aligned signals — i.e., line crossovers and directional arrows pointing in the same direction. Avoid trades when these two indicators conflict.

Entry Rules for the CAT 50 Strategy

Long (Buy) Entry Conditions:

  • Price crosses the EMA(50) upward, and the next candle opens above the EMA.
  • MAX Moving Average shows a blue circle (bullish signal).
  • Hist_Step_MA_Stoch histogram is green and rises above +0.04.
  • aNina_v1 displays a green upward arrow.

Short (Sell) Entry Conditions:

  • Price crosses the EMA(50) downward, and the next candle opens below the EMA.
  • MAX Moving Average shows a pink circle (bearish signal).
  • Hist_Step_MA_Stoch histogram is red and falls below −0.04.
  • aNina_v1 displays a red downward arrow.

CAT 50 Trading System

Exit Options:

  • When the Hist_Step_MA_Stoch histogram reverses back across +0.04 (for longs) or −0.04 (for shorts).
  • When Hist_Step_MA_Stoch histogram changes color (e.g., green → red or vice versa).
  • On a counter-signal from MAX Moving Average (e.g., blue → pink circle).
  • At the trader’s discretion.

Note: During ranging (sideways) market conditions, false signals increase. However, when correctly timed during trend initiation, the strategy can capture strong impulsive moves — allowing quick movement of positions to breakeven.

FAQ

Which timeframes and currency pairs does the CAT 50 strategy support?

The CAT 50 strategy is designed specifically for the M30 (30-minute) timeframe and the EUR/USD, GBP/USD, and USD/CHF currency pairs.

What are the core indicators required for CAT 50?

The strategy requires four indicators: EMA(50) on Close, Hist_Step_MA_Stoch (with NumberOfBarsToCalculate = 2000 and ±0.04 levels), aNina_v1, and MAX Moving Average.

How do I confirm a valid trade signal?

A valid signal requires alignment: price crossing EMA(50) in the trade direction, matching MAX Moving Average circle color (blue for long, pink for short), Hist_Step_MA_Stoch histogram crossing ±0.04 with correct color (green/red), and a corresponding aNina_v1 arrow — all simultaneously.
