What is Equity?
Equity is one of the indicators of a trading account, representing the amount of free funds on a deposit of a trader, that is, the funds that can be used for trading.
Calculating Equity
Equity is calculated using the following formula:
Equity = balance + floating profit – floating loss.
Open positions of the client are taken into account at the time of calculating the indicator.
For example, a trader has a deposit of $1000 with two open deals. One deal has a current loss of $50, and the other has a current profit of $75. Equity will be equal to $1000 + $75 – $50 = $1025.
Note that equity is not a static but a dynamic indicator, whose value constantly changes.
Why is the Equity Indicator Useful?
