Heiken Ashi Smoothed Forex Indicator is a modified version of the standard Heiken Ashi indicator, designed specifically for the MetaTrader 5 trading platform.
The key difference between Heiken Ashi Smoothed and the standard Heiken Ashi lies in its use of smoothed (averaged) price series instead of raw, real-time price data. This smoothing helps filter out many false signals that may arise from market noise when using the conventional calculation method.
The Heiken Ashi Smoothed indicator is available in two versions:
- For the main chart window
- For a separate sub-window (below the chart)
The indicator supports ten different smoothing algorithms, selectable via configuration:
- SMA — Simple Moving Average
- EMA — Exponential Moving Average
- SMMA — Smoothed Moving Average
- LWMA — Linear Weighted Moving Average
- JJMA — Adaptive JMA (Jurik Moving Average)
- JurX — Ultra-linear smoothing
- ParMA — Parabolic Moving Average
- T3 — Tillson’s multiple exponential smoothing
- VIDYA — Variable Index Dynamic Average (Chande’s algorithm)
- AMA — Adaptive Moving Average (Kaufman’s algorithm)
Note that the parameters Phase1 and Phase2 have distinct meanings depending on the selected smoothing method:
- For JMA: external Phase variable, ranging from −100 to +100
- For T3: smoothing coefficient multiplied by 100 for readability
- For VIDYA: CMO (Chande Momentum Oscillator) period
- For AMA: slow EMA period. The fast EMA period is fixed at 2; the power exponent is also fixed at 2.
