RSI Filter Forex Indicator is a modified version of the RSI indicator designed for MetaTrader 5, intended specifically as a strategy filter.
The indicator checks RSI’s position relative to the 30 and 70 thresholds. It defines three states based on clean breakouts:
- Above — when RSI rises cleanly above 70 and carries that state from the previous bar,
- Below — when RSI falls cleanly below 30 and carries that state from the previous bar,
- Neutral — when RSI moves between 40 and 60.

This design filters RSI values more aggressively than the standard version. Traders can apply it to other indicators — for example, pairing it with Momentum may sharpen entry timing.
Shorter RSI periods work best in the RSI Filter Forex Indicator. Longer periods produce fewer 30/70 breakouts, reducing signal frequency and usefulness. A period of 10 or less is the widely accepted range.

FAQ
What does the RSI Filter indicator do?
It converts standard RSI values into three filtered states — Above (bullish), Below (bearish), and Neutral — based on clean breakouts of 30/70 levels.
Which RSI period works best with this filter?
A short period — typically 10 or less — ensures sufficient sensitivity to price momentum and frequent, actionable state changes.
Can I use RSI Filter with other indicators?
Yes — it’s designed as a standalone filter and works well when applied to oscillators like Momentum or combined with trend-following tools for confluence.
