Appearance of the ADX (Average Directional Movement Index)

The ADX indicator consists of three lines: +DI, -DI, and ADX. The +DI and -DI lines are directional indicators. It should be noted that the +DI measures the strength of upward price movement, while the -DI measures the strength of downward price movement. The ADX line is calculated based on the +DI and -DI values.

Using the ADX (Average Directional Movement Index)

The ADX is typically displayed in a separate window below the price chart and uses a single time frame. It is used to determine the strength of a trend. The higher the ADX value, the stronger the price trend. A declining ADX indicates slowing price movement and potential for a new trend to develop. A drop in the ADX line also suggests a sideways or ranging market.

A signal to open a position occurs when the +DI and -DI lines cross. If the -DI line crosses the +DI line from above, resulting in the +DI line being above the -DI line, it signals a buying opportunity for a financial instrument. Conversely, if the -DI line crosses the +DI line from below, it signals a selling opportunity.
