What is a breakout on Forex?
Price breakout is a professional term for financial traders that refers to the price closing above/below a strong price level in the form of support/resistance, which has been repeatedly tested by the market.
True and False Price Breakouts
Price breakouts can be true when the price actively moves in the direction of the breakout, or false when there is a reversal after the breakout. In the latter case, it is often said that traders did not have enough strength to hold the breakout.

What happens to the price after a channel breakout?
As mentioned above, a price breakout can be true or false. In the case of a false breakout, the price returns within the boundaries of the previously formed channel. In the case of breaking out of the channel, the following price movements may occur:
- The price broke the resistance line of an uptrend
In this case, it is said that the trend is accelerating, and it is assumed that the width of the new trend corresponds to the width of the previous one.

- The price broke the support line of an uptrend
In this case, it is said that the uptrend has ended. The price may enter a consolidation phase (sideways trend) or transition to a downtrend. When the support line of an uptrend is broken, technical reversal patterns arise: Head and Shoulders, Double or Triple Top.

- The price broke the resistance line of a downtrend
In this case, it is said that the downtrend has ended. The price may move into a flat or uptrend. Often, technical reversal patterns appear in such cases: Inverted Head and Shoulders, Double or Triple Bottom.

- The price broke the support line of a downtrend
In this case, it is said that the trend is accelerating, and it is assumed that the width of the new trend corresponds to the width of the previous one.
